HOUSE 153
Shenton Park

About this project

The challenge (and success) of this project, was in creating a contemporary, light filled family home, while maintaining the integrity of the existing early 1900’s house, on this small site in a traditional Shenton Park streetscape.

The zoning of the house for the family was critical. The original house contains the parent’s suite and study. The upper floor ‘box’ contains the children’s zone.  The new ground floor area to the rear houses the family dining, living and entertaining areas, connecting seamlessly with the pool and garden areas.

The project demonstrates that contemporary really can sit comfortably with traditional, when respect is given to each.
