HOUSE 9
Dalkeith

About this project

Designed for a retired couple with a keen interest in the arts, the requirement was for a unique and contemporary home to accommodate their artworks and family furniture.

The 780m2 site in Dalkeith has a relatively wide street frontage and gentle slope, facilitating the horizontal building form. The "ground" level floats above the street level, providing a tranquil vista to the golf course opposite. The simple, uncluttered form, limited palette of materials and colours, and unobtrusive scale, enable the house to sit comfortably in the streetscape.

This project was awarded a commendation in the RAIA Architecture Awards residential category in 2004.
